Review: The Dark Age: a short story

The Dark Age: a short story
The Dark Age: a short story by Jason Gurley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am on a Gurley binge. I am definitely a fan. In Dark Age he deals with separation, unintended consequences of our decisions, and crushing guilt. Oh to be sure the setting is Science Fiction but the emotions, the heartache and remorse are shadows of what we all feel when decisions go awry or when we even loose contact with whom we have lost contact.
Gurley captures the emotional destruction that can occur when we move in a world of sweeping, exciting possibilities without seeing the implications to the ordinary sequence of human events.

Perhaps I know best why it is man alone who laughs; he alone suffers so deeply that he had to invent laughter.
Friedrich Nietzsche
